THE TRUE STARS

They are not the celebrities we celebrate,
Or the divas we admire,
Neither the media personalities we adore,
Nor the rich and famous we exalt,

Hidden from the cameras they are,
Far from the spotlights they remain,
Unrecognized by the media they exist as,
And unknown to fame they continue,

They were not born with a silver spoon in their mouths,
Or conceived into royalty,
Neither were they surrounded with an opulence of wealth at their delivery,
Nor drenched in riches upon their arrival into this world,

But they are the hands behind the scenes,
The stars that shine from the darkest clouds,
The ones with a purpose for which they live,
And the true heroes and heroines of our generation,

They are those that weathered the storms of congenital defects and lineal disabilities,
To rise to the top and remained humble,
The actual movers and shakers of our world,
And the pillars of the downtrodden and destitute of our society,
They are the real stars.
