THE EARTHQUAKE, THE HURRICANE...MY VIEWPOINT, YOUR PERSPECTIVE

I had just finished ironing when suddenly I felt a violent shaking,
It happened so fast and then in a couple of minutes, or perhaps seconds, stopped.
But in a twinkling of an eye we all gathered outside talking about what had just happened-an earthquake!
Honestly, the incident got me thinking for a while,
And I did pose some questions to myself:
What if the earthquake was more severe?
My friends, family, acquaintances, loved ones,
What would have happened to the people on the train, over the bridges or even in the tunnel?
How about those working in the tunnels, the caves; those on the roof,
Construction workers mounted on scaffolds, hundreds of feet above the ground?
For that couple of minutes, I didn't think about how much I had in my bank account, or our cars parked outside on the street and in the parking lot,
My dreams, visions and goals, didn't it even matter to me anymore; I was only bothered about LIFE!
Which really got me thinking and asking, what really matters most in life?

And while the news and slight shook of the earthquake was still in the air, there was also the news of Hurricane Irene,
And Today I saw the areas it had already started approaching.
Really, to think that this one is headed in this direction,
To also think that an even greater earthquake is headed in the direction of the East Coast, according to expert reports, leaves me pondering, slightly afraid, but still confident in God's divine protection,
But really, it is times like this that make wonder where our world is headed,
Times like this make me reflect: if the world ends today, what would be my fate?
Not the fate of any other person, but mine,
What if all these are a fulfillment of biblical prophecy, which I believe they are, regardless of what people may say,
I mean think about, an earthquake in the East Coast! That's unprecedented, but it happened,
What if everything the bible says is true, and these happenings are a sign of the times, the end time I mean,
I'm not trying to scare anybody or impose anything on anybody or sound religious, I'm just giving you something to ponder over,
'Cause from my observations, everything the bible prophesied is gradually coming to pass,
So you just reflect on all these things happening today in our world apart from the natural disasters,
And while you are at it, think about your eternal destiny: are you saved and ready for Christ's Second Coming?
That's just MY VIEWPOINT. What do YOU think about all these things? What's YOUR PERSPECTIVE? I would like to know, so stop by and leave a comment.
Peace.

IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME

When I said "I do" before the priest and crowd at our wedding, I meant it,
When I said you are the only one for me, I was serious about it,
And now after years of being together, I still want you to know that,
If I had the power to change anything in you, I wouldn't change anything,
'Cause you are perfect for me just the way you are,

So baby, it doesn't bother me when people say, "she's not even that pretty",
Because as far as I am concerned you are the prettiest woman on earth,
The shape of your body, the glow of your eyes, the curve of your eyebrows,
The sparkle in your smiles, and everything else is just the way I like it,
So please stop trying to change yourself thinking you would one day,
Become outdated for me, for not even time can kill the beauty you possess,
And the love we have is bound to last forever,

So, let people talk all they want, it doesn't bother me,
They said your past is not decent, you are not wife material, but it doesn't bother me,
'Cause I couldn't find any other woman who captured my heart the way you did,
Honey, your meals are sometimes too salty or not salty at all, but it doesn't bother me,
It's the love with which you cook them that matters to me,
You sometimes snore in your sleep, but it still doesn't bother me,
'Cause there seems to be a certain love rhythm in the way you snore,
A rhythm that I alone can hear, and understand,
Seriously baby, I don't care what the world thinks,
As long as we have each other, our love shall surpass the borders of mortality,
So stop trying to change yourself to suit the world's definition of a perfect wife,
For I love you just the way you are; if you were more perfect, you won't be the one for me,
So, just know that with all the imperfections that people point out in you,
It just doesn't bother me, for you are just right for me. I love you.

THE SIMPLICITY OF LIFE

In all of life's complexities,
In the myriad of urban hustle and bustle,
It is sometimes easy to get entangled in the web of our world's pandemonium,
And lose a sense of life's simplicity,
And the beauty of its austerity,
But for someone out there who is often weakened,
And rid of your vitality by the busyness of a complex universe,
Here is a word for you: return to the simplicity of life,

As you go about your daily life,
As you go through life's many activities,
Work, sometimes two or three of it, the long commutes,
School, children, for those who have them,
The wife, the husband, family life, and friends,
Always take out the time and relish in the simplicity of life,
And in the austerity of everyday living,
Take your time and breathe in the fresh morning air,
And feel the warmth of the summer sun,
As you let the breezes sip through the scalp of your head and skin,
Take your time and appreciate the simplicity of life,
And the beauty of its austerity,

Spend time with friends, family and the ones you care about; eat, drink, relax,
Sit back and enjoy the simplicity of life,
Appreciate God for the break of dawn and the beginning of a new day; enjoy today and hope for tomorrow,
Hold tightly the ones you love, give them a kiss, a hug and tell them you love them,
'Cause after all is said and done, life, love and the ones we love, is all we've got.
So, take the time and watch the sun rise, watch the awesome height at which the eagle flies,
Appreciate nature's beauty: the seas, the birds, the flowers, and all of nature's abundance,
Laugh long and hard; take a long bath, let go off the stress of life and just appreciate the simplicity of life,
Because after all, let me say in a nut shell, that worry and stress never solves any problem,
So do the best you can, leave the rest to God and just appreciate the simple things of life.
Peace.

TAKE A CHANCE

Rich, famous, good-looking, handsome and gentlemanly,
Are all you desire in the man of your dreams,
And honestly, I can say I am three of those things,
At least from my point of view; but rich and famous,
Is certainly not among the three,
But three out of five is not good enough for you,
So baby here I am, standing right before you,
And all I'm asking is that though I may not be the man of your dreams,
Your knight in shining armor, or your hero;
Please take a chance on love with me,
And let's see where the winds of affection,
And the unpredictable hands of passion would lead us,

For I've tried to, but yet it seems difficult to take my mind of you,
And even though you are totally out of my league,
Even though I feel you would never settle for someone like me,
There's still a feeling within me, it's more of a mystery- the mystery of love,
Something deep within me which tells me so softly but yet firmly,
That we are meant to be; and though I may not be so sure of this feeling,
All I'm asking is that you please take a chance on love with me,
And let's see where the sails of love,
And the vessels of  likeness would lead us.

For I'm not asking for the whole of your heart,
Neither do I seek the entirety of your love,
But just a glimpse, perhaps just a tip of your love's iceberg,
For I know that if you take a chance on love with me,
Togetherness, forever, a union whose bond transcends eternity,
Could be a possibility for us.
So please just take a chance on love with me, my dear,
And who knows, rich and famous may be added to the three.

WHAT MORE?

What more can I give to the one who loved me regardless of me?
What more can I do for the one who gave it all up that I may live?
In what way can I prove my love for the one who took my place,
And ushered me into the realm of abundant grace and mercy?
Should I give up all my wealth and my fortune?
Should I give up my life in appreciation?
Well, I could, and that's exactly what I did.

In case you are trying to grasp the perspective of the persona in this poem,
Don't stress your head about it,
'Cause I'm just speaking of my savior, my lord and King, JESUS CHRIST;
For all the love He showed me, for giving up His life on the cross of Calvary for my sins,
For showing true, unending and unconditional love unto me,
For forgiving my many sins, and restoring me to a place of freedom in Him,
For healing me of my sicknesses, and setting me free from every bondage,
For all He has done for me, I can't think of anything else to give in return,
But my life, my soul, my spirit, and my body in worship and reverence of the living God,
Who thought of a sinner and a  wretch like me and prepared even before the foundations of the earth,
The priceless gift of His only begotten: Immanuel, God with us, The word made flesh, JESUS CHRIST, my savior.
And as I write this morning, I pray that you will not be deceived any longer by the vain and pointless philosophies of man or the confusing complexities of religion's legion,
But that you will accept the real truth, life and purpose in a savior who gave up His life that you may have access to eternal life. I pray you find Jesus and make Him your lord and savior. Ask Him into your life today and experience boundless peace and joy. Amen. Peace.

IF I COULD...

If I could sail the seven seas for you,
Travel around the world just to be with you,
If I could die and be born again just to prove my love for you,
Risk my life for you, sacrifice my life just so you can live,
If I could buy you the whole of earth's treasure,
And secure for you the entirety of the world's wealth,
If I could live in discomfort just so your life can be more comfortable,
Walk bare-footed just so you can have the nicest shoes the world can offer,
If I could go hungry to give you a satisfying meal,
Go through countless sleepless nights, to put you to a good night rest,
If I could spend the last dollar I have on you, just to make you happy,
Risk all of my life's savings for the purchase of your priceless love,
If I could give up all the things that matter to me just to be with you,
Just to hear you say, "I love you,"
Just to make you mine,
Baby indeed if I could do all of these for you, I would,
And the truth is I could, I should, and I would,
'Cause you are worth more than all these things to me.
I love you.

WE WIN SOME II

So we keep rising,
In the midst of constant defeat and failures,
We keep rising,
Regardless of how many times we have been beaten,
We keep rising, we keep pressing on, we keep pushing on,
We never stop trying, praying, believing, trusting, expecting,
While we are on our journey to the promised land; our sojourn to the top,
'Cause we know we are bound to win some, we are bound to lose some,
But it's our attitude in the midst of the storms that determines our altitude after the storm,
So we keep rising even when people stop believing in us,
We keep rising even when the odds are stacked up against us,
We keep rising even after we watch all we've worked for crumble to the ground,
For we know that we would win some, and we would lose some,
So we encourage ourselves in defeat, and look with hope and optimism to the possibilities of our glorious future,
For whether we win some, lose some, win all, or lose all,
We know that as long as the courage and dreams within us remain indestructible, we would always come back better and stronger,
This folks, is what keeps me going, and regardless of your situation, please look in to the future with hope,
For the possibilites are endless for those who never stop believing in the possibilities.
And remember, we win some, we lose some, but we never stop trying, we never give up and above all, we never say never.
Peace.

WE WIN SOME

Life is filled with ups and downs;
One minute you are king of the mountain tops,
Next minute you are struggling in the valley pits,
One minute the crowd is calling your name,
The next minute they are spreading your downfall,
I've always had an attitude of a winner,
The determination to keep pressing on,
With the intention of coming out at the top,
But time and time again, I've come to realize that,
Though they say, "life's what you make it,"
Life doesn't always turn out to be what you work so hard to make it,
So we win some, and we lose some,
But we never stop trying, we never give up, we never say never,
Because it's not the excitement and glory of victory that makes winners,
But the courage to rise up again, pick up your baton and get back in the race,
Even in the midst of constant defeat and failures, yeah, that's what makes you a winner,
It's what makes you a fighter; 'cause we win some, we lose some,
But we never stop trying, we never give up and we never say never...

THE MYSTERY OF LOVE II

It's that which sparks up an attraction for no explicable reason,
A bond which is not built on superficiality, artificiality or on that which is ephemeral; it's eternal,
It's the reason you are attracted to that man or that woman, but can't really tell why,
Of all the many people on earth, he or she just captures your heart,
Even in the midst of his imperfections,
In the midst of her many flaws, you still love her,
There are truly no ways to tell when he is Mr. Right,
There are really no ways to determine when she is your soul mate,
But when you meet the right one, you just know,
By a certain connection, a certain bond, which may be conscious or unconscious,
A feeling deep-rooted within the soul, something you cannot lay hold on,
But you just feel it from somewhere within your being,
That's the mystery of love,

I could go on and on about this mystery called love,
But in order for us to fully grasp this mystery of love,
We must return to the one who truly modeled what true love should be-JESUS CHRIST.
His love was unconditional, sacrificial, eternal, always ready, willing, accepting, nonjudgmental;
All He says is, "come as you are and I will accept you, then change you and make you of a sterling worth."
I pray you first find true love in Christ and then in the right man or woman meant just for you.
Have a blessed day.

THE MYSTERY OF LOVE

It's a mystery known only to those who have truly felt it,
A mystery uncovered by them who are united by the heart,
It's a mystery born within the soul,
You don't see it, you can't always tell what it is,
But when you feel it, you know it,
You don't have to think about unraveling it,
'Cause it's not meant to be unraveled, it's meant to be accepted and enjoyed,
In the beauty of its mystery;
A mystery I wish I can adequately explain in words,
A mystery which cannot be uncovered by any scientific or any known human means,
A mystery which is divine, soulful, spiritual, and in no way carnal,
It's the mystery of love...

A FOOL FOR LOVE

You were worth it,
The stress, the sleepless nights,
The extra hours working, just to make you happy,
I didn't mind spending my last dollar on you,
Even when some of my friends called me a fool,
I didn't mind, 'cause for you, I didn't mind being a fool,
Yes, a fool, a fool for love, for the love of my life,

I'll sail the seven seas with you by my side,
I'll risk my life for you, and give up my dreams for your dreams,
Baby life with you is all I need, all I want, and all I'll ever want,
Truly speaking honey, I'll take a grenade for you, and I promise, I won't throw it back,
'Cause I don't mind being a fool, yes a fool for love, for the love of my life,

What more do I need in a woman, when I have you in my life?
What else do I desire in a wife, when I'm married to you?
Baby, I'm prepared to stay hungry, so you can have a good meal,
I'm ready to stay up all night, just to put you to a good night sleep,
You're my life, my breathe, my love, my joy, my bride, my angel, my saving grace,
And I'm prepared to be a fool for you, the love of my life. I love you.

ETERNITY

Someday in a twinkling of an eye,
All of earth's vanity shall pass by,
Someday in a twinkling of an eye,
All of life's vain pursuit shall go by,
As we are ushered into a realm beyond mortality,
As we arrive in a realm of an extraterrestrial nature-the realm of eternity,

For generations past, centuries gone, and decades long, have the prophets declared,
That long told story of our savior's return is now closer than when we first began, we are ushered,
Into the times of the end, the times when iniquity is on the increase, and the abominable,
The sinful, the immoral and the atrocious has suddenly become acceptable,
But someday we shall behold as in a global observation, the return of the King, Jesus
With the sound of the trumpet and the accompaniment of a great heavenly host, to get us,
Someday this earth shall be rolled away as a scroll for the revelation of a new heaven and a new earth,
Someday you shall be ushered into the realm of eternity, with the loss of your mortal breath,

Someday the bills will no longer be paid,
The tuition will no longer be paid,
The children will no longer go to school,
Someday the wise shall become the fool,
Someday we will no longer drive through the street,
To get to work, living to make ends meet,
Someday all this hustle, bustle and rat race,
Shall be terminated in the demise of the human race,
For life as we know it shall be changed forever in the realms of eternity,
When we go past this present life into a place unknown to mortality,
So as you live daily in this present life, think about your fate in the after-life,
Heaven or Hell; you can keep arguing and refusing to believe,
Or you can make a change today and eternal life receive,
But just so you know, eternity is forever and ever.

HE ALONE

This is a special dedication,
To someone out there seeking a better perception,
It's a special selection,
For someone out there seeking liberation,
From all the travails, pains, and sorrows of your life,
For someone who has tried everything possible in life,
For someone whose life has been severally broken,
For someone whose faith has been constantly shaken,

You have done all you can to restore sanity,
Order and satisfaction to your entity,
You have turned to sex, drugs, alcohol and all of earth's vanity,
You are right now caught in a life of dejection,
Trying to find joy in a hedonistic lifestyle, but yet still living in depression,
All the things you do on the surface, the life of debauchery,
Is so you can find a solution to your misery,
But your life is very far from happy,
Well, I've got news for you,
I know of a friend who can heal you, restore and liberate you,
His name is Jesus,

Regardless of your many troubles,
In the midst of your struggles,
He alone can give your peace,
He alone can give you joy,
He alone can deliver you,
You could choose to ignore this,
And continue with your life,
Or you could just accept Jesus today, and witness a change,
The choice is yours, but just so you know,
Nothing that you are doing right now can give you joy and satisfaction,
'Cause He alone can. Peace.

STRENGTH OF A WOMAN

Some say she is a weaker vessel,
Some say she is just an empty vessel,
Others think she is emotionally and physically weaker,
They say the man is much better and brighter,
But I don't think so, and I hate to burst some bubbles,
For after much meditation and constant struggles,
Trying to wrap my mind around this creature called Woman,
I've come to understand an undeniable truth, an astonishing revelation,
I call it The Strength of a Woman!

It's a strength etched within the fibers of her being from creation,
She was created to be a helpmeet, a helper of creation,
She possesses a strength of emotion, a power of passion,
She was intellectually equipped to look beyond the surface,
So she sees that which lies beneath surface,
Keen to details, armed with better analytical skills, she sees through the inter phase,
And yes, she is a woman, a wife, a mother, a breadwinner, a teacher, and a caretaker,
Oh how I wonder at the inexhaustible strength of this creature called Woman,

That which the man prides himself in she can do even double,
She is emotionally stronger, sometimes physically better, and even intellectually wiser, now that's a triple,
She wields a power which brings the strongest of men to their knees; it's the power of herself,
She knows how to get just what she wants without physically burning out herself,
She is subtle, sometimes cunning, clever, and attention getting, persuasive with her words,
Sometimes I feel she rules the world,
And no, she is not just an empty vessel or a subject of sex appeal,
But one whose presence in a man's life, creates a better appeal,
Think about a man's world without her-chaos and disorder,
But when she steps in the reverse is the case-order, order, and order,
Now that's the strength of a woman!

A STAR...A HERO

Right from the day you let out your first scream,
As you arrived this world, a fulfillment of your mother's dream,
You were born with a mandate, a divine purpose,
You were conceived with a reason, a certain purpose,
You were born to live for something bigger than yourself,
You were created to live for something much greater than just self,
So, regardless of your past, and many mistakes: reasons for sorrow,
I want you to know that you can still have a better and brighter tomorrow,
'Cause when you arrived this world, A Star was born, A Hero was Conceived,

You don't have to live by people's expectation of you,
Neither do you need to be bothered about people's perception of you,
Please stop trying to please the world and its lusts,
For many have continued therein, remaining constantly lost,
You don't have to degrade yourself to riotous living and vanity,
You are better than that; greatness is etched within your entity,
Please return to God, the author and finisher of your life,
For He is the gateway to your destiny, the key to your life,
Know that your painful past is not as important as your glorious future,
So arise from your failures and mistakes, and take hold of your blessed future,
And in all you do always remember that when you arrived this world,
A Star was born, A Hero was conceived.

NOT MEANT TO BE

Once I saw this pretty girl,
Moved by her beauty I approached her; but I meant well,
I had seen equally beautiful maidens, my eyes had seen equally beautiful damsels,
But there was something about her beauty that attracted me to this very damsel,

The mere sight of her pulled several strings and hit different notes in my heart,
I desired her not for her body, but for her heart,
I wished we could be together forever,
I wished we could be joined in holy matrimony forever,
But after she clearly made it know that she desired another,
I realized that some things are not just meant to be,
Perhaps, she wasn't the right one for me,

But she was all I desired in a woman, all I wanted in a wife,
She seemed like the perfect fit for my life,
I could see my reflection in her personality,
I could view my nature within her entity,
Together I wished we could sail the world, and travel across the seven seas,
But after she made it clear that some ships shouldn't sail on the same seas,
I realized that indeed, some birds of the same feather can never flock together,
I realized it was not just meant to be, not now, not ever,
So I let go off this angel, waiting for the almighty to send another meant just for me.

IF ONLY SHE KNEW...

Young and beautiful,
They told her she had a sexy body,
Naive and vulnerable,
They told her she needed a man to make her glow,
They told her everyone else was doing it, so she could follow,
She believed,
Ignorant, she was deceived,
By the lies from the mouth of some sweet-talking opportunist,
Waiting to take advantage of her vulnerability,
Waiting to prey on her innocence and naivety
But if only she knew,

If only she knew that she was beautiful in herself,
If only she knew that she didn't need any man to make her glow,
If only she knew that her beauty was not in artificiality,
If only she knew that spreading her legs for every Tom, Dick and Harry,
Would not make her more beautiful or better appreciated,
Oh if only daddy's little girl knew,
If only mommy's pretty angel knew,

If only somebody had told her that her self-esteem was hers to define,
If only she knew that she is as beautiful as she thinks she is, not as the world says she is,
If only she knew that there was no fun in empty and vain promiscuity,
If only she knew that loosing her virginity, to some depraved ungrateful fellow, was vanity,
And that it was something she would come to regret, something that would come to hunt her,
If only she knew that she was made by an excellent God who never makes mistakes,
If only she knew that she was worth more than a threesome, a blow-job and a one night stand,
If only she knew that she was an angel, well-made for greatness and excellence,
If only she knew that even now, regardless of her mistakes, God is waiting to forgive her, and restore her,
If she would just call on Him,
Oh if only my little sister knew,
Can someone please help me tell her,
That she is beautiful just the way she is.
