SATISFIED YET?

If I was the greatest entertainer alive,
If I had a billion dollar in my account,
If I was the biggest boss in the industry,
A force to be reckoned with, too big to be ignored,
If I had it all,
Would I be satisfied yet?

If the prettiest girls worshiped the ground I walk on,
Ready to throw their dignity to the winds just to have me give them a kiss,
If my life was like paradise on earth, a heavenly bliss,
If my name was a money maker, and my presence produces the color green in abundance,
If I had a Bentley parked in the garage of my 200 acre mansion, a Porsche on my premise,
If I owned the record label, the clothing line, if my shirt says my name and fast cars were my collection,
If A-listers called my buddy, mayors, governors and the president had me on speed dial-the best connection,
If I could make one million dollar in a week, throw the largest parties, and pop the largest Vodka,
If I had it all,
Would I be satisfied yet?

IF WORDS WERE ENOUGH

If words were enough,
I'll call you precious,
If words were enough,
I'll call you ravishing,
Baby, if words were enough to describe,
The feeling I have when we are together,
I'll say enchanted,
If words were enough to fully explain,
What you mean to me,
I'll say you are my jewel,
Indeed if words were enough to adequately express,
The sensation I have when you touch me,
I'll say titillated,
But because mere words are not enough to describe,
The beauty you possess, the care you have shown me,
Because mere dictionary lexicons are inadequate to contain,
The love you have shown me, the personality you possess,
Because I have searched for the right words to express my true inner feelings to you,
But couldn't find any, all I can say is you are the breath with which I live,
Precious and Special sound close but are really not sufficient for who you truly are,
For you are more that just precious and special to me, it is you that I live for,
Yes, you mean this much to me and though I have said it many times,
Let me say it again, I Love You. I really do.

THE MYSTERY OF LOVE II

It's that which sparks up an attraction for no explicable reason,
A bond which is not built on superficiality, artificiality or on that which is ephemeral; it's eternal,
It's the reason you are attracted to that man or that woman, but can't really tell why,
Of all the many people on earth, he or she just captures your heart,
Even in the midst of his imperfections,
In the midst of her many flaws, you still love her,
There are truly no ways to tell when he is Mr. Right,
There are really no ways to determine when she is your soul mate,
But when you meet the right one, you just know,
By a certain connection, a certain bond, which may be conscious or unconscious,
A feeling deep-rooted within the soul, something you cannot lay hold on,
But you just feel it from somewhere within your being,
That's the mystery of love,

I could go on and on about this mystery called love,
But in order for us to fully grasp this mystery of love,
We must return to the one who truly modeled what true love should be-JESUS CHRIST.
His love was unconditional, sacrificial, eternal, always ready, willing, accepting, nonjudgmental;
All He says is, "come as you are and I will accept you, then change you and make you of a sterling worth."
I pray you first find true love in Christ and then in the right man or woman meant just for you.
Have a blessed day.

DON'T GIVE UP!

Discouraged, heart-broken, your spirit is shattered,
Depressed, dreams-broken, your soul is battered,
Deserted by all and sundry, whom to heart you took,
You feel like your life is a sad story told in a sorrowful book,
Regardless of your present situation,
In spite of your current disposition,
Don't give up,
For you are sure to rise to the top,
If you hold on,
And keep pressing on,

Perplexed, upset, annoyed, you are raging within,
Puzzled, confused, frustrated, you are lost within,
Lost sight of your life's direction,
Angry at the course of your life, void of promotion,
They say you should keep trying,
But you have lost all hopes, you are tired of trying,
It feels like the more you try the harder it gets,
It feels like the more you pray the tougher it gets,
I feel your pain and I understand,
It hasn't been easy from where I stand,
But regardless of your present situation,
In spite of your current disposition,
Please don't give up,
For you are sure to rise to the top,
If you hold on,
And if you keep pressing on,

It might take a little longer,
You might need to walk a little farther,
Before things get better,
But one thing is sure;
And this one thing I know for sure;
Regardless of your present situation,
In spite of your current disposition,
You will laugh and smile again,
You will celebrate and rejoice again,
If you don't give up,
And if you keep reaching for the top!
Peace.

A TRUE FRIEND

One who loves you just the way you are,
One who magnifies your strength,
One who undermines your weaknesses, no matter what they are,
One you can run to when in need, like your breath,
That's a True Friend,

One who tells you the truth even when it hurts,
One who stays by in the toughest of times,
One who is willing to for your sake, take discomfort,
One who sticks by you in the saddest of times,
Now that's a True Friend,

I'm talking about one who wouldn't,
Take advantage of your vulnerability,
I'm speaking of one who wouldn't,
Take advantage of susceptibility,
That's a True Friend,

Don't know if you've ever had such a friend,
One who is willing to sacrifice their lives for you,
A very, very True Friend who stays till the end,
Through your highs and lows, always there for you,
In case you need such a friend,

Let me introduce you to a friend,
Who's been faithful to me even when I was unfaithful,
He gave it all for me, a very true friend,
Understood me when no one else did, was also truthful,

It would be your pleasure to meet this special true friend,
I assure you that this friend would never let you down,
This friend will show up whenever you call, till the end,
This friend will not just bring you up when you're down,
But this friend will step into the pit with you, and bring you out,
I think we all need a friend like that,
Such a friend is rare in a world like ours,
But that friend does exist,
Okay, I think you get the idea,
Please let me introduce you to JESUS,
He's that friend I've been talking about,
Put your skepticism and criticism to rest,
Open your heart unto Him,
And you will not regret it.
Trust me.

SAVED

As I stood before the judge, the jury and the spectators,
An enemy my accuser,
My case set before the judge,
And the jury deliberating over my suit,
I realized I could make only one plea-guilty,

As I watched the judge looking through my case files,
And listening with rapt attention to the testimonies of the many witnesses,
The jury already certain of their decision,
It dawned on me the one thing possible-a death sentence,

All hopes of mine were lost,
It could take only a miracle to save me,
My life was at the verge of being jettisoned,
Into the flames of condemnation,
Into the fiery furnace of eternal damnation,

Then fell I to the ground in hopelessness,
Weeping and wailing for help,
My situation worsened by the judge's indifference,
My ordeal complicated by the jury's firmness,
Salvation was distant from me,

Then suddenly, with the judge lifting the gavel,
Ready to strike the seal to a death sentence,
My accuser almost leaping for joy,
With a moment of silence running across the crowd,
A voice came from behind,

It was a voice of hope,
An utterance of salvation,
And a proclamation of liberation,
It was my savior speaking,
"I'll take his place my lord at the cost of my blood,"
Were His words,

Just then I knew it was over,
He brought me acquittal,
Took my pains away,
Bore my burdens,
And drowned my sorrows,
He silenced the accuser,
Restored my hope and gave me back my life,

Then out of the courts,
I ran, leaping for joy and shouting for jubilation,
With the intention of returning no more to sin,
I was saved by His blood,
Acquitted by His mercy,
And discharged by His grace,
Glory hallelujah my savior, JESUS saved me!

THE CLOCK IS TICKING

There I was, thousands of feet above sea level,
I was feeling elevated, I was on another level,
But right below me, the city lay in its magnificence,
I was amazed at the glory of its awe-inspring presence,
The Empire State, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty,
Just then, I heard a voice from within my mortality,
It was a word from the lord's word,
So to ignore it, I couldn't afford,
"The clock is ticking," it said,
Yea, I was sure that's what I heard,

But what does this mean, "the clock is ticking?"
Within me, my conscience was pricking,
Moments passed by, and we landed at the airport,
I got in to my Porsche,
Reached for a glass of wine,
I was about to dine,
Then came the word again, "the clock is ticking,
Son what are you doing?
For in a twinkling of an eye, this present age shall pass away,
All of the beauty and wealth of this mortal realm, shall fade away,
The King of Kings shall appear in His glory,
That long-told story,
Of His second coming,
Shall be seen manifesting,

"Son," the voice continued,
I couldn't drink no more, my dining was discontinued,
"The world is facing a crucial time,
A whole lot of people are getting confused,
So many have been used, misused, and abused,
So many others have been deceived, passing on by the seconds, dying,
Others are fed-up, depressed, pessimistic, tired of every day living,
Their blood pressure moving with the cost of living,
Son get up and go, start spreading my word, for the clock is ticking,

Yet in a little while, I shall return,
This world shall be reborn,
Those who doubted me,
Those who cut-loose and lived free,
Of me, denying my existence,
Profaning my name in my presence,
Using the unreliabilty and fallibility of man's limited science,
As a prove of my non-existence-evolution being one of their many evidences,
And the so-called Big Bang Theory postulated by a limited mortal being,
To try and explain the creation of an immortal being,"
The clock is ticking!
So what are you doing my brother,
How are you living my sister,
Still a Doubting Thomas?
The clock is still ticking,
Seek the lord while He may be found,
And call upon Him while He is near,
For yet in a little while,
The world shall see the glorious return of the King of Kings,
Whom they rejected, despised, and crucified,
Whom they belittled, degraded and denied,
Right now, tears was rolling down my cheeks as I began crying,
For it became evident to me that while I was wining, dining and living,
The clock was constantly ticking,
Ticking away, while souls pass on to the great beyond, unsaved,
So I ask you today, while the clock continues to tick, would you die, unsaved?
Would you ignore the truth and live like you don't care?
Would you ignore the truth and live like you don't care?
Think about it, but while you are at it,
Remember Jesus is the only answer, no matter what the world says,
And most of all, the clock is still ticking!
And time is running out!

A TRIBUTE TO THE ROYAL COUPLE

As I sat on my couch watching the royal array and glamor,
The people, the procession, the prince and his princess,
She looked so beautiful, adorned in white, I thought she has been blessed with favor,
Her father leads her on, she walks with grace and decorum, already used to the royal business,
As they stepped into the Westminster Abbey, its magnificance reflected royalty and splendor,
Then the prince sees his bride, he smiles, she smiles-they are about to be joined in oneness,

Then it occurred to me-I need to pray for the royal couple,
Write a tribute to them and wish them well,
So my tribute is a prayer, and my prayer a tribute for the new royal couple,
I pray that God will unite them in a well,
I mean a well of love, togetherness, and peace without struggle,
Just as the world gathered for your wedding, Prince William and Princess Kate,
They shall gather for your anniversary, not your divorce, for togetherness is your fate,
May your hearts never be torn apart,
And may your love for each other run truly and deeply-from the heart,
Your union would be blessed with kids as you desire,
And your love for each other shall burn continuously-like an unquenchable fire.
Happy Married Life-William and Kate.

WHEN THE ROLL IS CALLED UP

As I write the this poem, I am reminded of the famous line that says, "this world is not my home",
So I'm a sojourner with a destination-a place far beyond the skies, not known to man; a place called home,
But right here in this world of carnality,
Within this realm of mortality,
I experience troubles on every side,
Sometimes it feels so hard fighting the tide,
I even loose my mind,
But I am not discouraged ,
I'm only encouraged,
I am not perplexed,
I am only impressed,
For I know that when the Roll is Called up Yonder,
And my lord appears in His glory, I shall become better and transcend higher,
For on that day I shall rise, as I come into a new dawn,
When the curtain is drawn and my work here is done,
I shall appear before the almighty,
To be with Him for eternity,
This is my glorious hope,
The reason I'm able to persevere and cope,
In the midst of life's many troubles,
And man's many struggles.
So hold on, for our home is far beyond the skies.

SEASONS GREETINGS

Wow, its Christmas day,
I am so grateful I am alive today,
Thus far has the good lord kept me,
Thus far has He been bye me,
From the start of the year up until now,
I am so excited to be alive today, so I say, wow!
Seasons Greetings!

To all my fans, friends, family and acquaintances,
To all those who stood by me through all circumstances,
To all those who encouraged me, and told me "go on!"
To all those who held my hand when I was scared, and told me "come on!"
I say Seasons Greetings!

To all our veterans and troops out there in the fields, out of the country, away from home,
And all the family and friends they left behind, within the country, waiting at home,
To all those who may be sick and in need of healing,
I pray you be healed, and be filled with blessings,
And to all those in need of money,
I pray your gift makes way for you, and your life be filled with honey,
So I say Seasons Greetings!

To all my neighbors in India,
My brothers in Asia,
To all my sisters in Zambia,
And all my nieces in Rwanda,
I say don't give up, I am praying for you,
To all my friends in Europe and Jamaica,
And all my cousins in Madagascar, Africa and Antartica,
I say Seasons Greetings!

Finally, to Mr. Clause and his crew at the Pole,
And all the neighbors up there in the North pole,
To all those who are letting their inner Santa shine out,
By giving back and letting out,
The gifts of joy, friendship, true love and comfort,
While sealing up the scars of pain, and the wounds of hurt,
To my fellow artists and writers,
Who are seeking for a season better and brighter,
I say hold on for the future is greater than ever,
Seasons Greetings!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Joy-filled New Year!

WHEN THE CURTAIN IS DRAWN...

When the curtain is drawn,
And the day is done,
With our mortality coming to its end,
We realize that into eternity shall we transcend,
So the real value of our lives here on earth, stare us in the face,
As we sojourn unto a different place,

When the curtain is drawn,
And your journey here is done,
What shall be your life's story,
And the content of its history,
What shall be the message,
Which to your world you shall leave, on the day of your passage,

When the curtain is drawn,
And your carnality is done,
As you lie between life and death,
Almost passing away, at the end of your breath,
You can already see your biography,
It stands vividly in your heart, it's an autobiography,
But what shall be its content...

Does this world really have an end?
Will the curtain of our lives one day be drawn, as our lives come to an end?
Is their judgment for everyone's actions?
Is there really a place of damnation?
Is there a second chance,
For those who desire a change in their circumstance?
Is there a God?
I think so!

And I also think, that where we go after death,
Is a product of our decisions after birth,
And so be mindful of your every "unholy" drama,
Which you try to create in your life and in the life of others, for there's something called Karma!*
So, think about this: when your life's curtain is drawn,
And your life on earth is done,
What shall be your fate?

*The word "Karma" is used in its literal perspective, not with respect to Buddhism or Hinduism.

CHRISTMAS: THE FEELING NOT THE SEASON

You know, as I think about this season;
And all the buzz and excitement in the air,
I couldn't help noticing that so many have become ignorant of the reason,
Behind this season, the buzz, and excitement in the air,
So many live in the shadow of Christmas trying to keep it real,
As they rush off to the malls and stores, trying to grab the deals,

But all these fuss and buzz in the air,
Got me thinking and meditating,
And all the excitement and festivity in the atmosphere,
Got me reminiscing and cogitating,
Over what we have made Chistmas to be;
A time when people can no longer be free,
To express love in its simplicity,
For all we do is emphasize commercialism, artificiality and superficiality,

Now, I am not writing to disapprove of gifts and presents,
But I am writing to address the heart and attitude with which we give presents,
'Cos I am reminded of my imaginary friend who was criticized by his brothers,
Because he couldn't get a gift for his sick mommy, and he was bothered,
He loved his mom so much but because he couldn't give a gift like others,
He was despised and criticized,
So, I ask: when it comes to Christmas, what is of greater importance,
The season and its buzz and fuss,
Or the feeling and the love,
Is it the price or the value of the present,
Or the heart and thought behind it,

So, as we celebrate this all important holiday,
Let us understand that it is all about the feeling,
The feeling of true love, of brotherhood, sisterhood, friendship, and togetherness,
Don't be overwhelmed by the buzz of the season, living in sadness,
Over your inability to buy a friend a gift,
Sometimes a nice word, a hug, a helping hand, can be your only gift,
And a true friend will appreciate anything you give, from a pure heart,
So, try to give the gifts and presents, but better yet spread the love,
Remember- the Feeling, not so much the fuss and craziness of the Season,
After all, Christmas is about LOVE.

Merry Christmas

THIS CHRISTMAS...

As the year comes to an end,
And we all have the chance to be with friends,
Family and acquaintances at the dining table,
Chattering and laughing as we recount our experiences in the year so far,
I am most grateful to God for keeping us together and stable,
For keeping us safe and making us who we now are,
So this Christmas, in this yuletide season,
I am grateful and thankful for a number of reasons,

This Christmas,
I am grateful for mom and dad,
This Christmas I am thankful to God, whether good or bad,
I am grateful for my kid brother,
And whether I get gifts or not, I wouldn't bother,
For the year has been filled with so much gifts already,
The gifts of life, of health, of success, of safety and of family,
So this Christmas, in spite of the challenges of the year, I am grateful,

This Christmas,
Honey, I am grateful for you,
For loving me and helping me go through,
Life's hurdles and turbulence,
And offering me a space and a chance,
In the depth of your soul and at the center of your heart,
The reason I'm sure we can never be torn apart,
So, under the mistletoes baby, I'll place my arms around you,
Feel the warmth of you skin, and through the cold of the night, shall be bye you,
So, this Christmas, I am thanful to God for you,

This Christmas,
If I was a kid again and Santa comes visiting,
I'll sit on his lap, singing and demanding,
Not for gifts or packages, but for opportunity,
Opportunity to give back to those needy kids, the poor and the helpless, fulfilling their fantasy,
Of  a better and brighter Christmas, not necessarily a whiter one,
I'll ask for an opporunity to make Christmas happen for someone,
Every single day for the next three hundred and sixty five days,
This Christmas, I am grateful for these and many others...
What are you grateful for?
Love to hear from you...

Merry Christmas.

LOVE IS ALL WE'VE GOT II

Honey, please let me be the one to wipe your tears,
Let me the one to carry your cares,
Let me give you arms to rest in, and shoulders to cry on,
Let me be the strength with which you carry on,
And your bright sunlight in your life's darkness,
Let me be the joy in your sadness,
'Cos when all is lost,
We realize that love is all we've got,
Let me be the one to tuck you in at night,
Let me be your bright future when your future is out of sight,
Let me be your refuge in your seasons of pain,
And your shelter from life's troubled rain;
The reason you can look at life and smile again;
Your bridge from a past of sorrow,
And your gateway to a better tomorrow,
'Cos through our darkest nights,
In the midst of our painful plights,
When surrounded by a raging storm,
And you feel like you're loosing your form,
In the face of a turbulent time,
When our sorrows hit a prime,
Let us stay close to each other,
'Cos when all is lost,
We realize that love is all we've got.

Merry Christmas.

HOW FAR CAN SANTA TRAVEL?

I can't forget what it felt like when my little niece asked the Christmas question,
"Lysious, is Santa real?" she asked, in all innocence and curiosity,
I didn't know what to say to that little girl, about that innocent question,
I didn't want to take away her childhood innocence or fantasy,
So I said "yes sweetie! Santa exists. He lives in the Northpole",

But as I cogitate over that funny incident which happened a while ago,
A thought arose within me about this whole season,
A thought it is, which I can't let go,
And a thought I wish to share, about the reasoning,
Behind Mr. Clause and his crew,

So I ask if Santa was real,
And his adventures true,
How far can he travel and how far can his sleigh go?
If the Northpole housed Clause and his crew,
How far can they travel?

Does he operate in the temperate regions alone,
If he has to visit so many places and children in so short a time,
Does he ever make it to the needy and helpless children in the almost forgotten regions,
If he was white, then how can he relate with the black kids of the tropical zones,
Really, if Santa was real, how far can he travel and how far can he sleigh go?

Can he take gifts to my friends in Congo who are bare-bodied and traumatized,
Can he carry a package to my neighbors in India, whose kids will get nothing in this season,
Would he go down to Mississippi and stay with those poor children seeking love,
Please tell me, can his sleigh go all the way to Rwanda to put those kids on his lap and ask them what they want for Christmas?
I guess their request will be "Peace and Quite, No More Wars, No more Genocide!"
Better yet, can he stop by Sudan and comfort those little girls who have been a victim of rape even in this season,

The moral of this poem is not to argue over the existence of Santa off course,
Neither is it to paint any region in a bad light,
But to let us know that even if Santa existed, there is very little he can do,
There should be a Santa in each of us, and as we buy and give gifts,
Let us remember those children who will never get to see Santa this Christmas,
And let us reach out and be a Santa to them!

Merry Christmas.

IF EVERYONE WAS SANTA...

It's that time of the year again, when everyone is buying,
Gifts and goodies, for loved ones and friends, everyone's just giving,
The air is saturated with joy and happiness,
We're all festive-spirited and there is no sadness,
The mistletoes and streets are all lighted-up,
Our hearts, and souls are all lighted-up,
It's an exciting time of the year,
And I love it, yeah,
But as I brood over this season,
And meditate over its reason,
I couldn't help but ask:
What if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday?

What if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday?
Wouldn't we all be givers living in an always jolly day?
What if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday?
Wouldn't we all be in a festive mood, always giving back,
Even if it means emptying the safe and buying till we're in lack,
What if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday?
Wouldn't there always be smiles on children's faces?
And everyone smiling and giving back in all places?
What if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday?

You think about it, if everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday,
Wouldn't we all be trying to give back to the community and the poor?
Wouldn't we all be nice and helpful to the helpless stranger at the door?
If everyone was Santa and Christmas was everyday,
Wouldn't we all be caring and thoughtful of our loved ones?
Wouldn't we all be caring and helpful to the needy ones?

'Cos it seems to me like Christmas is the only time we remember the poor,
It seems to me like Christmas is the only season we remember the helpless neighbor next door,
It seems to me like Chrsitmas is the only time some of us remember our loved ones,
It seems to me like the rest of the year is filled with so much "busyness",
That we forget the needy and less-privileged ones, and even our loved ones,
It seems to me like Chritmas is the only time of the year we remember to give back,
Even when we give back, we are selfish about it, and are always asking-what do I get back?
Let us change our views about Christmas and try to be Santa everyday and make Christmas everyday!

SILENT NIGHT, HOLY NIGHT

'Twas the night of our savior's birth,
A night that brought an end to eternal death,
Restored hope to sinners lost,
And heralded joy to the world's host,
It was a Silent Night, a Holy Night!

No more shall we be subdued by death's sting,
Or sin, to our souls cling,
No more shall we in sorrows be drowned,
Or the world, in damnation be crowned,
All because of that Silent Night, that Holy Night!

Hark! Herald! The angels tell,
Of a King's birth; a king who shall save us from the fury of hell,
Long enough have we waited for this new born King,
Who shall to the whole earth give peace, and to our hearts happiness bring,
What a night, a Silent Night, a Holy Night!

Let us therefore sing with jubilation, as we celebrate this glorious day,
For our joy will know no bounds, and our spirits no dismay,
For His kingdom shall last forever,
His reign forever, shall prosper,
Our praises shall ever ring,
And our hearts ever sing,
As we remember that Silent Night, that Holy Night!

COME HOME

So long have you been away in the land of the spirits,
Oh great one,
For this long have you deserted the shrine, searching through the evil forest,
For the key to unlock the golden age,
For the answer to the questions that have longed troubled us,
For the solution to the problem that long plagued the village,

The king is worried, though with mixed feelings,
The villagers are disturbed, though delightful,
The entire community already mourns you,
And your family weeps for fear of your death,

Come home, oh great one,
Return, thou representative of the gods,
And mouthpiece of the spirits,
For a new dawn has come,
The winds of liberation have blown into our land,
And the springs of redemption into our borders have flown,

We have been ushered into the white man's religion,
Witnessed the testimonies of the preachers,
Experienced the power of the foreign God,
And we now in peace and prosperity live,
All thanks to the almighty.

N/B: The poem tries to present a picture of cultural Africa before the arrival of the white man and christianity. It paints a picture of the time when gods were worshiped in Africa.

A COLD WINTER NIGHT

The night is so cold, freezing and chilling,
The leaves and trees are dried, shivering and falling,
The mountains are harder,
Their tops snow-capped and whiter,

The mistletoes are all lighted up,
The reindeers are all out,
The elves are all ready to go all out,
And Santa is getting his suite dry-cleaned,
The children are all excited,
I could even see the one-horse open sleigh,
It seems like Santa is on his way,
With lots of gifts in his sleigh,
Reminiscent, these sights are of a very special season,

It is true we can no longer go to the beaches, or have a suntan,
Neither can the kids go skating,
Or eat fresh apples from the apple trees anymore,
But look on the bright side, it's at such a time as this,
That we bury the hatchet in feuds from months past,
That we get to spend memorable moments with our loved ones,
Share the union and togetherness of the family,
Sit by the fire and feel its warmth,
It's at such a time as this, that opportunities present themselves for us to express our love to the ones we care about,
And some may also fall in love, as their loneliness and heart-break, they forget about.
Merry Christmas!
