WE SHALL ALL BE REMEMBERED!

As I stood by Johnny's graveside,
His mother crying and sobbing, standing by my side,
I couldn't hold back my tears, for Johnny was a true friend,
He was born and raised by a single mother,
The son of an absentee father,
Lived with a dream and a vision,
That one day he would change his generation-that was Johnny's mission,

But now he was gone; a young boy he was, just 16 years old,
But he lived a life worthy of rememberance though he wasn't old,
But as I thought about the fact that Johnny was never a celebrity,
He was never on T.V, wasn't popular, but had a friendly personality,
I realized that Johnny would always be remembered,
For the short but impactful live he lived,

Then it struck me,
That we shall all be remembered-this is meant to be,
Whether you lived a short life or long life,
A peaceful life or a troubled life,
Whether you were born poor, or not,
White, black, rich or not,
Known, or unknown, famous or not,
We shall all be rememnbered,

If not by the world, by our neighborhood,
Our family, friends or fellows in the hood,
Johnny was young, he lived a short but unforgettable life,
Not for the troubles he caused, the people he shot,
The girls he dated, the hearts he broke, or the people he fought,
But for the lives he changed, the faces he helped put a smile on,
The families he helped, the people he served, and the victories he won,

But what shall you be remebered for,
What shall be your story when you are cried for,
What shall be your legacy when you pass away,
What shall you be remembered for when you sail away,
Good or bad, rich or poor, white or black,
We shall all be remembered,
But the question is: What shall you be remembered for?

THE REASON II

That the broken hearts, the abandoned projects,
The twisted lives, the shattered dreams and the rejects,
Would receive a message of love,
Love so true and real, love from above,
That they would smile again,
Laugh again, rejoice again, hope again and be born again,
This is the Reason for which I write,

It's the reason for which I sing,
It's the reason for which I let these words ring,
Through the airwaves, the sound waves, and the internet,
That the drowning soul would be saved by the savior's net,
That they would come into the place that God has called them to be,
The enslaved, the addicts, and the bound may be free,
It's the Reason that I live,
It's the Reason for which I wake-up each day,
Go on my knees and pray,
That He who has called me,
Will equip me, for the assignment He has for me,

Not a million dollars,
Not a fancy ride; a Bentley, a Porsche or something better,
Not a mansion, not the flash,
Not the endorsements, the deals, the cash,
The media attention,
The celebrity status, the recognition,
Not the crowd screaming my name,
Not the fortune, or the fame,

But the smile of a helpless child,
Who is given a good food and safe water,
The testimonies of the down-trodden, who are made better,
The dreams that are fulfilled,
The hopes that are restored,
The destinies that are built,
The lives that are changed,
By the things that God does through me,
It is for this that I live,
It is for this that I give,
It is for this that I write,
It is for this that I sing, shining the light,
It is the Reason that I'm who I am.

THE REASON

From the western part of Africa,
Son of an African mother,
Son of an African father,
Son of the king of kings,
I've been saved by the blood, reborn as a prince,
Had my mindset renewed, had my vision corrected, ever since,

Born with a dream,
That one day I will shine like a beam,
Conceived with a message,
That would usher in a new age,
Entrusted with a mandate,
From my birthdate,

A mandate it is to bring hope to the hopeless,
Joy to the sad, the reckless and restless,
To point them to the giver of ife,
The son of the most high, who gave His life,
The second person in the God head,
He's the word made flesh, the same as the head,
This is the reaon for which I live,

That a dying soul would receive a message of hope,
That the restless spirit would receive a word of peace to cope,
That the hurting, the abused, the hated, the dejected,
The messed-up, the wasted, the abandoned and the rejected,
Would have a bridge of hope-a reason to live again,
A reason to arise from their mess, their crushed souls, and live again,
That they would mount on wings like the eagle to soar again,
Inspite of how many times they have failed,
This is The Reason for which I was called...

HATS OFF: MEMORIAL DAY POEM

There I was on the train heading for my destination,
So many thoughts running through my mind, my meditation,
At exactly 6 pm, I got to my stop-Fort Washington,
A driving distance from DC, Washington,

As I looked around,
Looked up and then to the ground,
I was reminded that years ago, in New York, here in United States,
Some brave men fought to make this great country the United States,

It was the battle of Fort Washington,
The year was November 16, 1776, our Commander was General George Washington,
About 2,900 troops of ours fought against 8,000 British and German troops,
As I refelcted on these, I was moved and challenged by the bravery of our troops,

So on this special day as I stare on the American flag,
I am reminded of the Star Spangled Banner, our flag,
I am reminded of the battle of Fort McHenry, oh that battle,
I am reminded of the struggle that gave birth to those famous words, oh the struggle,
"Oh say, can you see, by the dawns early light..."
It was a battle to remember, it was for the combatants a painful plight,
As they fought at the Fort to defend the Fort- the Defense of the Fort,

So on this special day, I say Hats Off,
To all those who gave their blood and sweat that we may be free,
I say Hats Off,
To the likes of General Washington, who gave it all that we might be,
One nation under God, the land of the free and the home of the brave,
Hats Off to those amateur soldiers who risked it all, they bled and gave,
Their lives for the freedom of our great nation,
Each time I reminisce on the bravery of those soldiers, I'm filled with inspiration,

Hats off to the likes of Genral Lafayette,
Who inspite of injury organized a successful retreat,
Hats off to the great Revolutionaries,
Who brought about the Great Revolution,
That led to the Great Declaration,
Of our independence and successful secession,
Hats off to all those who fought in the struggle,
That made our victory and freedom possible,
Hats of to all; black, white, native American, slaves, bond, free,
Who gave it all up that generations yet unborn may be free,
For time immemorial their bravery will remain alive in the chronicles of time,
Within the annals of events their stories wil remain through time,
And through the pages of legacy and the books of legacy they shall remain unforgotten,
So in allegiance, honor and respect, I say, Hats Off.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

RESPECT YOUR BODY!

As I continually meditate on this thing called Love,
And how our world continually abuses Love;
People misconstrue lust for love,
They mistaken infatuation for love,
And even think sex and love,
Go together,

Well, in the midst of this misconception,
In the abundance of such confusion,
I have a word of advice for all the ladies out there,
The single ladies who are quick to go bare,
Just because a man says, I'm attracted to you,
Please don't be deceived, for true love will always wait for you,
So respect your body and keep it for that special one meant just for you,

You think about it,
How can a man say he loves you,
If he cannot wait for you, respect your body,
And love you for you, instead of loving your body,
If he cannot show his commitment,
By "putting a ring on it,"
You take a moment and give it a thought,
But while you're at it, please Respect your body,

He doesn't even know the content of your heart,
Yet he wants you to spread your legs apart,
He is interested in the color of your panties,
And not in the content of your personality,
A man that loves you,
Should love you enough to wait for you,
He should love you enough to take you down the aisle,
Otherwise, he doesn't deserve your body, even for a shortwhile,
So respect your body,

Don't give him what he hasn't paid for,
Keep it for the man that is serious enough to pay for it, before,
You let out the treasure that is your sexuality,
Rather than mess around in vain carnality,
There is a treasure within you,
You don't need a man freely accessing that treasure within you,
Respect your body,
Keep yourself and be your husband's only lady,

Sex is more than just carnal pleasure,
It brings pressure when abused, but when waited for, becomes a treasure,
It is soulful, it binds the spirits of those involved,
"But everyone is doing it", you say,
Well, contrary to popular belief, let me say,
Not everyone is doing it,
You can be among those not doing it,

Think about keeping your body for your "Mr. Right,"
You will different from the rest, be proud in your own right,
You can walk with your head held up high, different from the rest,
A queen of your domain, granting access to only the right king, for the rest,
Of your life, proud of your virginity,
The treasure of your sexuality not given to immorality,

Think about the night of your honey moon,
As you both for the first time unite under the moon,
He is your first, you're his first,
You discover yourselves in yourselves,
Such beauty,
Such purity,
Is the beauty and sanctity of your matrimony;
Even if you have made mistakes in the past,
Let it go, and start from now to respect your body.
Peace.

SLOW DOWN

With all the bustle and hustle of everyday life,
Trying to keep up with the joneses and the rat race,
Arising early everyday, working nine to five,
We often times tend to forget that we are here by grace,
But in the midst of a busy and superfast 21st century,
We need to Slow Down, take the time to say "thank you!"
To the one who has given us the life we live,
Have an attitude of gratitude,

In the midst of a very busy schedule,
And all the many things that we try to juggle,
Trying to cope with the struggle,
Of everyday life,
Let us take the time to Slow Down,
And appreciate the very little things of life,

Like, take the time to drink a glass of water,
Heave a sigh of relief, it will make you feel better,
Take the time to breathe in the air of the summer,
Admire the bright blue skies and feel the warmth of the weather,
Take the time to give the kids a hug and tell them you love them,
Take the time to look your spouse in the eyes, give them a kiss,
A hug, let out a smile in their direction, and tell them you love them,
So Slow Down and appreciate family,

Try to stay in good health, do the best you can and leave the rest,
Always remember that you are blessed,
On this journey of life, know that you are not alone,
Your strength comes from the one who dwells on His throne,
Don't put your life through a distress,
Try to fall back and relief the stress,
You need to be alive and healthy for your generation, please,
Just try and Slow Down, and rejuvenate yourself, please,

Finally, take the time to call a friend,
Tell them you care, and you'll be by them till the end,
People need to know that you care,
And that you're not just interested in your cares,
Get off the computer sometimes, and spend quality time with friends,
I know life gets very busy sometimes, but just try and Slow Down,
And remember, do your best and leave the rest,
It is well.
Peace.

I'M DONE!

Here I am,
A herald of peace,
A messenger of hope,
An agent of hope,
A message in my heart,
A song on my mind,
A poem in my spirit,
A dream in my soul,
And a vision in my eyes,

I'm displeased by what I see,
I'm not satisfied by what we call "free",
Everywhere I turn, I see an abysmal trend,
Everywhere I look, a see a dead-end,
The young, the restless,
The wild, the mindless,
The hurt, the broken,
The despondent, the shaken,
This is what I want to change,
This is what I want to change,

But then I become concerned of what people will say?
Will they love me, will they listen if I try to show them the way?
Should I tell them what they want to hear?
Or what they need to hear?
Should I ignore my conscience and focus on making a big name?
Even at the expense of truth, focusing on fortune and fame?
But then I realize that someday I will give account,
Someday I will have to recount,
To the almighty,

So after all is said and done,
I want to say that I'm done,
I'm done trying to please the masses,
I'm done trying to ignore what the fact is,
I don't really care if the crowd loves me,
I don't care anymore if they audience is pleased with me,
I will speak the truth, even if it hurts,
I will lay out the facts even if it brings discomfort,
Because afeter all is said and done,
I realize that I'm here on earth to represent the one,
The one who was, who is and is to come,
It is in Him that I live, move and have my being,

I'm done trying to to front,
When I know I 'm nothing without God,
I'm done trying to impress the people,
Then after the lights go off, my conscience makes me cripple,
What shall it profit me if I please the people, gain all the attention,
Garner all the fame and fortune, receive all the recognition,
But in the end dsiplease my maker,
I mean after all, I will answer to Him someday, He is my creator,

I just want to spill the message in my heart,
Sing the song on my mind,
Write the poem in my spirit,
Live the dream in my soul,
And reveal the vision in my eyes,
I want to be a helping hand to the helpless man to carry on,
I want to give a shoulder to the hurting woman to cry on.
So I guess what I'm saying is,
I'm done trying to live myself,
It's time to focus on others!

A TRUE FRIEND

One who loves you just the way you are,
One who magnifies your strength,
One who undermines your weaknesses, no matter what they are,
One you can run to when in need, like your breath,
That's a True Friend,

One who tells you the truth even when it hurts,
One who stays by in the toughest of times,
One who is willing to for your sake, take discomfort,
One who sticks by you in the saddest of times,
Now that's a True Friend,

I'm talking about one who wouldn't,
Take advantage of your vulnerability,
I'm speaking of one who wouldn't,
Take advantage of susceptibility,
That's a True Friend,

Don't know if you've ever had such a friend,
One who is willing to sacrifice their lives for you,
A very, very True Friend who stays till the end,
Through your highs and lows, always there for you,
In case you need such a friend,

Let me introduce you to a friend,
Who's been faithful to me even when I was unfaithful,
He gave it all for me, a very true friend,
Understood me when no one else did, was also truthful,

It would be your pleasure to meet this special true friend,
I assure you that this friend would never let you down,
This friend will show up whenever you call, till the end,
This friend will not just bring you up when you're down,
But this friend will step into the pit with you, and bring you out,
I think we all need a friend like that,
Such a friend is rare in a world like ours,
But that friend does exist,
Okay, I think you get the idea,
Please let me introduce you to JESUS,
He's that friend I've been talking about,
Put your skepticism and criticism to rest,
Open your heart unto Him,
And you will not regret it.
Trust me.

THE LADY IN RED

There we were, at a friend's party, it was a get together,
I was sitting with a childhood friend, he was like a brother,
As we chatted on about life and family living; our kids and wives,
She walked by, The Lady in Red, she caught our eyes,
Her lips in a red watery lipstick were full and sensuous, and so sparkly were her eyes,
She walked sinuously, placing each step after the other with elegance,
But I had a wife and so I turned to my friend, but he seemed to be in a trance,

He was staring at her dumbfounded and speechless,
"Friend," I said, why are your staring at her, speechless,
"Give it a rest man, you've got a wife and kids, " I said,
But he was still staring, this Lady in Red stuck in his head,
Then suddenly and to my surprise,
"I must have her tonight," my friend said, lust all over his eyes,
"But you're married, this is adultery, it is infidelity, and it is wrong!"
I said, seriousness all over my eyes,

I pleaded with him to quit the empty lust that now flooded his heart,
But he wouldn't listen, I thought this would tear him apart,
From his wife-she was even more beautiful and most of all faithful,
But he refused, walking towards the Lady in Red, to commit a sin so dreadful,
I tried pulling him back but he pushed me away,
"It's just a one night stand, my wife won't know about!" he said and waked away,
So they left and committed the act of infidelity,
And fulfilled the desires of carnality,

But today, my friend is seething with guilt and bitterness,
His heart is filled with sadness,
Not because his wife found out, but because the Lady in Red,
Whom he took to a hotel suite and slept with in bed,
Was his wife's friend's daughter whom he never knew,
How can he deal with this feeling, can he be made anew?
My friend is a good man, but he let his desires take hold of him,
Now his marriage is in a mess, his intimacy with his wife is no longer pure and honest, for the guilt in him,
He lives depressed everyday, but all it took was one night stand,
And the seduction of the Lady in Red,

What's your point? You may ask, please stay with me,
The Lady in Red could be anybody,
Your friend's cousin whom you are lusting after,
The girl down the street, two blocks from your house, whom you're chasing after,
The pretty waiter at that restaurant; you go there everyday not to eat, but just to see her,
She could be the girl next door, whom you see every morning on your way to work,
May be its the glow in her eyes, the sweetness in her lips and the way she walks,
But you're a family man, you've got a wife and kids, so is the Lady in Red really worth cheating on your wife?
Think about it,

But while you're at it, remember that your wife was the one to whom you made a vow of fidelity,
She was the one with whom you made a promise of chastity,
Even if things are hard right now, may be she doesn't treat you right anymore,
You could work things out, please don't go running into the filthy arms of the Lady in Red,
Please don't sleep with her, don't even go close to her bed,
Because she is nothing but a strange woman, this is reality,
Her sexuality is infested with immorality and promiscuity,
Her lips may speak sweetness but her soul spills bitterness,
Her shape may look perfect, like the perfect figure eight, but her spirit bears sadness,
Her body is a high way to the grave,
She is an agent of destruction, she would destroy you and take you to a spiritual, soulful or may be a physical grave,
Please stay faithful to the one to whom you are legally bound in holy matrimony,
Drink from your wife's cistern, that should be your only honey.
Peace.

SAVED

As I stood before the judge, the jury and the spectators,
An enemy my accuser,
My case set before the judge,
And the jury deliberating over my suit,
I realized I could make only one plea-guilty,

As I watched the judge looking through my case files,
And listening with rapt attention to the testimonies of the many witnesses,
The jury already certain of their decision,
It dawned on me the one thing possible-a death sentence,

All hopes of mine were lost,
It could take only a miracle to save me,
My life was at the verge of being jettisoned,
Into the flames of condemnation,
Into the fiery furnace of eternal damnation,

Then fell I to the ground in hopelessness,
Weeping and wailing for help,
My situation worsened by the judge's indifference,
My ordeal complicated by the jury's firmness,
Salvation was distant from me,

Then suddenly, with the judge lifting the gavel,
Ready to strike the seal to a death sentence,
My accuser almost leaping for joy,
With a moment of silence running across the crowd,
A voice came from behind,

It was a voice of hope,
An utterance of salvation,
And a proclamation of liberation,
It was my savior speaking,
"I'll take his place my lord at the cost of my blood,"
Were His words,

Just then I knew it was over,
He brought me acquittal,
Took my pains away,
Bore my burdens,
And drowned my sorrows,
He silenced the accuser,
Restored my hope and gave me back my life,

Then out of the courts,
I ran, leaping for joy and shouting for jubilation,
With the intention of returning no more to sin,
I was saved by His blood,
Acquitted by His mercy,
And discharged by His grace,
Glory hallelujah my savior, JESUS saved me!

HOW ART THE MIGHTY FALLEN! II

A worthy cause they led,
A laudable purpose lived for,
A praise-worthy crusade spearheaded,
And a historical assignment, they with mastery and perfection executed,
But How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And the lead taken from the leaders!

They were the source of our pride;
The reason we boasted before our enemies,
The strength behind our fortress,
And the pillars of our safety and defense,
But How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And our glory be turned to groaning!

But filled with pride they forgot their purpose,
Being puffed up in arrogance, their diligence and alertness waned,
And their manhood dwindled,
With detractors they began feasting and their dignity to the dogs were cast,
From the cisterns of strange women they began drinking,
The treasures of bunches of promiscuity, they explored,
And their own wives despised,
Like a termite-infested tree they stood,
With their internal structure grossly ruptured and disfigured,
Oh How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And great men reduced to the floor of mediocrity!

Then in a false sense of courage,
And a mirage of bravery,
They launched their worthless selves into battle again,
They set out for a deadly combat,
Then like a helpless chick in the claws of a kite,
They were seized and taken captive in the lands where they once ruled,
So conquered, they became,
Dejected they felt,
Depressed they turned out,
To be forever locked up in the dungeons of oblivion,
Oh How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And the captors turned captive!

THE TRUE STARS

They are not the celebrities we celebrate,
Or the divas we admire,
Neither are they the media personalities we adore,
Nor the rich and famous we exalt,

Hidden from the cameras they are,
Far from the spotlights they remain,
The unrecognized of the media, they exist as,
And unknown to fame they continue,

They were not born with a silver spoon in their mouths,
Or conceived into royalty,
Neither were surrounded by an opulence of wealth at  their delivery,
Nor drenched in riches upon their arrival into this world,

But they are the hands behind the scenes,
The stars that shine from the darkest clouds,
The ones with a purpose for which they live,
And the true heroes of our generation,

They are those that weathered the storms of congenital defects and lineal disabilities,
To rise to the top and remained humble,
The actual movers and shakers of our world,
The ones that teach the little classes that produce the biggest presidents,
The ones that work the dirty jobs in the tunnels to put up the bright lights,
The ones that make the most impact in their communities,
They are the pillars of the downtrodden and the helping hand of the destitute of the society,
They are those with a big heart for humanity and the souls of men,
Those who go to any length to save a life, and salvage a soul,
Those, folks, are the real stars!

HOW ART THE MIGHTY FALLEN!

Once they were, mighty, strong and powerful,
Men of valor they were,
Men of a noble reputation they lived as,
And a great assembly of bravery and courage, their description spelled,
But How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And the crown taken from the kings!

Invincible monarchies they captured,
Indomitable kings humbled,
Powerful kingdoms they seized,
Gigantic castles destroyed,
And great empires annihilated,
But How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And the predators taken prey!

The art of war they defined,
The war fronts subdued,
To the battlegrounds, their feet became well-known,
The fiercest combats they dared to fight, conquered and brought home victory,
But How Art the Mighty Fallen!
And the conquerors conquered!

FRIENDSHIP

It is a bond of life, provided it is true,
It unites enemies and drowns rivalry,
Like blood it is the water of life, for no man is an island,

True friendship is one built on the cohesive bond of agape love,
Not on the frivolities and triviality of an erotic instinct,
Its bond transcend the physical and anchors on the soul,
It is therefore, immortal!

Marriage is a form of it,
Love is the definition of it,
And unconditional togetherness speak its language,
Brotherhood, sisterhood, and family unity are engraved in the tablets of its mind,

When was the last time you showed true friendship,
When was the last time you showed true love in a relationship,
He that wants a friend must first show himself friendly,
For there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, really,
Take the time to be a true friend,
And show true love to a true friend.
Peace.

TIME CANNOT KILL

After all these years of been together,
It still feels like just yesterday that we met,
Right from the first instance, I knew our love will last forever,
And right now, like a solidified concrete, our love is set,
Bound together by the cords of time,
Still rising to its prime,
With each break of dawn,
And after all is said and done,
I realize that not even time can kill,
Not even the clock of biology can stifle, this love I feel,

Honey, everyday with you is sweeter than the day before,
And after each night with you, I can't help but ask for more,
I'm grateful to God for you, for your beauty and love are timeless,
Constantly being renewed with each passing day,
Gradually been revived with each passing day,
Even in old age, you're still my baby girl,
I still want to kiss your lips, look into your eyes and call you, "baby girl,"
Through the ages gone,
Through decades gone,
Through the passage of time,
Your love has persisted and thrived, always alive on my mind,
Not even time was able to kill,
This love I feel,
And on this special day, after all these years, I still want to say, "I love you."

MUSIC TO MY EARS

It's this feeling in my heart when I see you,
It's this joy in my spirit when you say, "I love you too,"
Baby it's this feeling of ecstasy in my bowels when you touch me,
And this feeling in my soul, when you say, "our love is meant to be,"
Baby, it's music to my ears when I see you,
Melodies in my heart when you say, "I love you too,"

How can I explain this love that I feel for you,
Through the thick and thin, the storms and the sorrows, and all we've been through,
You've remained faithful renewing your love for me with each passing day,
May the day you were born forever remain blessed, I pray,
What more can I say? It's music to my ears when I see you,
And melodies in my heart when you say, "I love you too,"

I still remember with elation the day our paths crossed,
And the day we said, "I do," and I gave you my trust,
And entrusted my heart in your care,
And you took and placed it deep in your soul, my dear,
If I born again, and reborn again, you'll remain my love,
The only one true love sent me from above,

It's with this heart that I feel,
And this love in my heart, nothing can kill,
Music to my ears when I see you,
Melodies in my heart, when you say, "I love you too,"
Darling, I'm satisfied by your beauty,
Pacified by your personality,
And glorified by your entity,
Baby I'm trying to end this piece,
But the love in my heart has been split into pieces,
It's over-flown its banks, I can no longer contain it,
For I recall how you came into my life, and made it well-lit,
With the rays of your fidelity, and selfless love,
I am moved to tears right now; for you loved me just the way I was,
I just want to say thank you,
For as long as we live, even in death,
You will remain my breath,
And you will always be, music to my ears when I see you,
And melodies in my  heart when you say, "I love you too,"
I love you.

THERE ARE TIMES...

In life, there are times when we are faced with sorrow,
And the troubles of our yesterday keep us from seeing a brighter tomorrow,
But it is at such a time as this that we ought to appreciate the works of nature,
And with the right attitude look into the future,

In friendship, there are times when we are faced with a dilemma-to choose between ourselves and the ones we love,
And sometimes the cares of this world keep us from seeing the true friends sent us from above,
But it is at such a time as this that our relationships are put to the test, and the true friends stick closer than a brother,
And the love of our soul mate become more strongly felt than that of a mother,

In marriage, there are times when we are tempted to jettison the chastity vows of the institution,
There are also times when we are tempted to give into a compromise, which may lead to a lifetime of Syphilis from the cistern of an embodiment of prostitution,
However, it is at such a time as this that we are meant to ponder over the significance of the marriage vow,
And to the world our fidelity show,

In trade and business, there are times when we watch with painful hearts, all our life's toil crumble down,
And we in dismay, feel down,
But on the bright side, it is at such a time as this that life presents us with opportunities to move over,
To a better place and a brighter side, and with keenness and acumen, start over,

Even in education, there are times when we are faced with the desire for competition,
And the passion to be praised alter our disposition,
 Ergo, we often times forget, it is at such a time as this that we consider the real essence of education;
Not to amass awards and recognition, but to be empowered to positively affect our generation.

WHAT A WORLD!

Friends, we live in a world in which the unpredictable wind of life drives us in unexpected ends,
A world in which the restless seas of life drowns even the most skilful of captains,
However, in the face of these situations which tend to obfuscate us,
We should not treat with negligence,
The fact that the key to our destinies lies in our hands,
What a world! One characterized by irony!

In this jungle brothers, no definite trend is typical or fixed,
We are therefore architects of our lives,
For some folks step into life wretched, and depart affluent,
Others tread its path wallowing in luxury, but get past the finished line beggars,
Still in this jungle, brethren,
While some fellows die from the pangs of hunger and poverty,
Others have so much as to cast to the dogs,
What a world! One that typifies sheer contradiction!

As we sail along this open sea folks,
We realize that while some maidens seek a spouse no matter what they like look like,
Others emphasize appearance and looks,
More so, a lot more others are after fame and fortune,
Also along these waterways called life,
We observe that while some women wet their pillows at night for a lack of a single offspring,
Others have not stopped counting,
More over, others have had their health jeopardized by obstinate progeny,
What a world! One typical of dissatisfaction and unfairness!

Finally fellow country men, as some of us plod through the vegetation of this thick forest, downcast,
We should not make light this indispensable principal of life;
Life can either be good, bad or worse,
But we can choose to affect life, and be happy, or be affected by life and remain sad,
We are therefore a product of our attitude,
Attitudes, yes attitudes; they either make or mar us,
For while some see the forest as a place of equal opportunities,
Where the top is open to all who persevere,
Others make endless lists of why they can't make it,
What a world! One pillared on attitude!

THE ONES WE LOVE

You know in life, we often hurt,
We are often made to feel discomfort,
Sometimes we are heart-broken,
And our trust in people becomes shaken,

But no hurt is as painful as that caused by someone you love,
No pain is as grieving as that inflicted by the ones we love,
Especially when we have taken such people to heart,
We loved them, cherished them, even adored them, and gave them our hearts,
It sure is painful!
It sure is hurtful!

This poem is a special dedication to someone out there who is hurting,
It's a special dedication to someone out there who is grieving,
It's a special dedication to someone out there who is right now, burning within,
For that one who's been betrayed by the one you loved,
The one you called your love, your true love you thought was sent you from above,

It's a special piece for that one who's been betrayed by a friend,
Deserted by a companion you thought would stick to the end,
The one you called buddy, homey, pal and even family,
In the midst of that pain, that hurt and bitterness within you,
In the midst of that pain you're going through,

Here's what I want you to know;
No matter what it is that was done to you or against you, let go,
For in life we are sometimes pierced by the thorn of friendship,
Wounded by the sword of love, burnt by the fires of a loving relationship,
But you can't continue to feel down and out,
It's time to get-up, let go of the past, and let the pain out,

You can't continue to hold grudges, hindering your own progress,
Endangering your health and peace of mind by living in constant stress,
Over a wrong that was done you,
Over an injustice meted out against you,

So please learn to let go, and move on,
Put that hurt behind you and press on,
For in life, we are sometimes hurt by the ones we love,
We are occasionally offended by those we call our own,
But the best we can do for ourselves when those we love,
Err against us, when they abandon us and leave us alone,
Is to forgive and forget no matter how hard it is,
For in doing this, we release ourselves from emotional, mental, and even spiritual set-backs.
Please learn to let go and move on. Peace.

OF WHAT USE?

Man born of a woman is full of troubles,
Yes, even everyday life is often filled with struggles,
The struggle to pay the rent, the car note,
The phone bills, the electric bills, while keeping up,
Like a vessel on a sea, we feel afloat,
And in the midst of all these, some give-up,

But as I contemplated on the vanity of mortality;
The fact that man's subject to an ephemeral entity-
We are here today and tomorrow we pass away,
To make ends meet, we arise early each day,
Hustle, bustle, and struggle, work hard just for survival,
After much meditation on this, I ask a question,

Of what use?
Is it for a man to pass through life,
Without fulfilling his destiny, living an unfulfilled, wasted life,
This is no question with intention to stump you,
Neither is one that is meant to upset you,
But a question made to change and "up-set you,"

So I ask again, of what use?
Is it for you to misuse, refuse and abuse,
God's purpose for your life, living in constant carnality,
Getting stuck in the rat race, living in superficiality,
Isn't there more to life than just chasing waterfalls?
Isn't there more to life than just chasing pitfalls?

Think about it, of what use?
Is it for you to live a care-free life,
Ignorant of meaning, living in constant bitterness and strife,
Over the things you couldn't achieve,
Over the things your perceived,
Were rightfully yours; please learn to let go,
And at the end of this piece, here's what you should know-

There's more to life than just having a wife and family,
How about destiny, integrity, fidelity, morality, humility and legacy,
There's more to life than sex, drugs, alcohol and riotous living,
That is not life, that's just wasting away,
Please wake up!
For some day, all of this we see today, this world we live in, would be given-up,
And then in the realm of eternity, some where beyond this life, where fame, name and fortune,
Become irrelevant, where even the rich, prestigious, wealthy and those opportune,
Will become nameless, somewhere beyond the vanities of life, if you live recklessly,
Your soul will lie in its place of final abode, restlessly,
As it battles with this question, OF WHAT USE?

BROKEN! II

May be you used to tust God, but right now, you are so broken,
You have forgotten how to pray, your bones are shaken,
Your spirit is crushed,
Your soul is bruised,
You are broken!

Your peace have gone away,
Your joy has faded away,
Lot's of issues on your mind,
You are presently going through the tide,

My heart is heavy for you my brother,
My spirit is burdened for you my sister,
I am filled with emotions right now even as I write,
And yet there is still a lot on my heart, which I want to alight,

I feel your pain,
But I don't want you to go through this again,
So please, no matter what lies you have been told,
JESUS still is the answer to your questions, His riches are untold,

Quit crying my dear,
Stop sheeding those tears, my dear,
Pick yourself up,
For the comforter has come to comfort you,
The deliverer has come to deliver you,
His name is JESUS!

It doesn't matter what your pain is,
May be you were sexually abused,
Mentally misused,
And even physically used,
But Lysious, you don't even know me,
Why do you care so much about me,

Yes, I may not know you,
But God knows you,
And through your pain and misery,
Through you heartaches and sorrowful story,
Through the anger, the despondency, the pessisim which you now feel,
I want you to know that JEHOVAH JIREH, the lord who heals, wants to heal,
He wants to heal your body, your soul, your spirit, your mind, and your heart,
He wants to fix you up, mend your broken heart,
And turn your situation around,
Go to Him now in prayer and trust Him,
And I'm sure He would come around,
And heal your broken life. Peace.

BROKEN!

I feel a strong pull in my heart tonight, as I write,
There is a message in my heart, which I want to alight,
I don't know what your situation is, as you read this poem, today,
But it is my prayer that you will receive a touch from the lord, today,

This is a message for someone out there,
Who feels they have been mistreated and left bare,
This is a message for someone who feels broken,
It is a word for someone who feels used, abused, misused, and is now broken,
May be by someone you loved or a predicament which has left you deeply shaken,

For that girl somewhere in India, who feels abandoned,
For that boy in the UK, who feels wretched and undone,
For that man in Russia who is about to give up,
And for that woman in the US, who is presently fed up,

You may have broken, by life's troubles,
You may have been shaken by life's struggles,
Perplexed, depressed, dejected and frustrated,
Tired, pessimisticc, and degraded,
Whatever your situation,

I have a word for you,
From the one who cares and loves you,
Who gave it all up for you,
His name is JESUS!
He's always been with us,

And tonight, this morning or whenever you get this message,
He wants you to know that He's about to raise you to a better stage,
He still loves you,
But would you trust Him to see you through,
I have more to say, please stay with me...

THE CLOCK IS TICKING

There I was, thousands of feet above sea level,
I was feeling elevated, I was on another level,
But right below me, the city lay in its magnificence,
I was amazed at the glory of its awe-inspring presence,
The Empire State, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty,
Just then, I heard a voice from within my mortality,
It was a word from the lord's word,
So to ignore it, I couldn't afford,
"The clock is ticking," it said,
Yea, I was sure that's what I heard,

But what does this mean, "the clock is ticking?"
Within me, my conscience was pricking,
Moments passed by, and we landed at the airport,
I got in to my Porsche,
Reached for a glass of wine,
I was about to dine,
Then came the word again, "the clock is ticking,
Son what are you doing?
For in a twinkling of an eye, this present age shall pass away,
All of the beauty and wealth of this mortal realm, shall fade away,
The King of Kings shall appear in His glory,
That long-told story,
Of His second coming,
Shall be seen manifesting,

"Son," the voice continued,
I couldn't drink no more, my dining was discontinued,
"The world is facing a crucial time,
A whole lot of people are getting confused,
So many have been used, misused, and abused,
So many others have been deceived, passing on by the seconds, dying,
Others are fed-up, depressed, pessimistic, tired of every day living,
Their blood pressure moving with the cost of living,
Son get up and go, start spreading my word, for the clock is ticking,

Yet in a little while, I shall return,
This world shall be reborn,
Those who doubted me,
Those who cut-loose and lived free,
Of me, denying my existence,
Profaning my name in my presence,
Using the unreliabilty and fallibility of man's limited science,
As a prove of my non-existence-evolution being one of their many evidences,
And the so-called Big Bang Theory postulated by a limited mortal being,
To try and explain the creation of an immortal being,"
The clock is ticking!
So what are you doing my brother,
How are you living my sister,
Still a Doubting Thomas?
The clock is still ticking,
Seek the lord while He may be found,
And call upon Him while He is near,
For yet in a little while,
The world shall see the glorious return of the King of Kings,
Whom they rejected, despised, and crucified,
Whom they belittled, degraded and denied,
Right now, tears was rolling down my cheeks as I began crying,
For it became evident to me that while I was wining, dining and living,
The clock was constantly ticking,
Ticking away, while souls pass on to the great beyond, unsaved,
So I ask you today, while the clock continues to tick, would you die, unsaved?
Would you ignore the truth and live like you don't care?
Would you ignore the truth and live like you don't care?
Think about it, but while you are at it,
Remember Jesus is the only answer, no matter what the world says,
And most of all, the clock is still ticking!
And time is running out!

BEYOND RHYTHM AND RHYMES II

These words that I write,
I pray will bring someone to the light,
These rhymes that I compose,
I pray will reveal to someone, their purpose,
For these words that I write are beyond mere Rhythm and Rhymes,

For if I write to titillate the sense of my little audience,
If I write to bask and glory in their presence,
If I write to appeal to their senses,
Write what they want to hear, and not what they need to hear,
Of what use shall it be to me?

So I write for that lonely brother who feels deserted, and abandoned,
I write for that sister who feels lonely and undone,
That they may find comfort and solace,
That their inner-joy will resurface,

I write in the hopes that the broken,
The shaken,
The ridden,
The used,
The abused,
The depressed, the dejected,
The frsutrated and the degraded,
Will find comfort in these words,
That these words will lead them to the true word,
The one and only, who was, who is and is to come,
He's name is Jesus!
Because after all is said and done,
I understand that my Rhythm and Rhymes cannot save,
Except they lead to the super-star (JESUS), who gave,
His life that we may live.

BEYOND RHYTHM AND RHYMES

Upon the roof top I will stand and declare this message,
From the mountain top I will speak it, write it, sing it, and announce it-it's a new age,
For these poems that I write,
These songs that I sing,
This message that I bear,
Is Beyond Rhythm and Rhymes,
I write because the time is prime,
So I'll keep my diction right and my content sublime,

Fame is not the reason that I write,
Admiration is no the reason that inscribe,
These words, and transcribe,
The feelings deep-rooted in me,
So I'm prepared to go to any degree,
Till my message is heard,
Then it will sepeak even while I'm dead,

So, I don't write to titillate the senses,
But I write to bring men to their senses,
For this message in my heart is Beyond mere Rhythm and Rhymes,
I write for the souls that are lost,
I write for the families that are torn,
That they will see the light without cost,\
And experience a reborn,
For this message in my heart is Beyond Rhythm and Rhymes,
So I write for the countless number of souls who are daily on transition,
To the great beyond, that they may catch the vision,
And not die undiscovered or unfulfilled,
For my heart bleeds,
My soul cries,
And my spirit wails,
For the many souls who pass on to the realm of eternity,
Exiting this phase of mortality,
Without fulfilling their divine purpose for humanity,
So Rhythm and Rhymes are no the reason that I write,
For my message is Beyond mere Rhythm and Rhymes.

SHOW HIM TRUE LOVE

For that woman who desires to get into her husband's heart,
Who yearns to be perpetually close to her husband, never torn apart,
You constantly ponder over what it is your man wants,
You read journals, articles and posts on "What Men Want,"
You want to satisfy you man,
And make him feel loved, like a real man,
Well, look no further, all you need do is simple-Show Him True Love,
But how? You ask, well, read on,

A man wants to feel that he is in charge,
It is in his blue print; he always wants to take charge,
So sometimes you need to step back and let him provide for the family,
This is not to say you shouldn't support him, but sometimes just let him give you the money,
Make him feel loved,
Show Him True Love,
Minimize his weaknesses, magnify his strengths,
Tell him you are lucky to have him; you're confident in his manly strengths,
Still with me? Okay, read on,

You know what he likes, how and when he likes it,
Give it to him, and you won't regret it,
Sometimes even when you're right, let him have his way,
It doesn't mean you're been marginalized, it will save the day,
Save you both from unnecessary arguments, plus it is called Selflessness,
It uproots the seed of discord and the plant of bitterness,

Show Him True Love,
Make him feel you were sent him from above,
Show Him True Love,
Make Him feel he is the luckiest man on earth,
Because he married you, you are his breath,
Show Him True Love,
Adore him, submit to Him,
Show Him True Love,
Look him in the eye and tell him, "you're handsome,"
Cook for him, serve him, it doesn't mean you're his slave,
It just means that you truly love him.
Please start Showing Him True Love,
And your marriage will be a heaven on earth, trust me, it works!
True Love Works. Peace.

SHOW HER TRUE LOVE

This is a special dedication to the man who is presently wondering,
It's a special piece for that husband who is constantly pondering,
Why the love of his life has been acting up lately,
And why she constantly nags and complains daily,

It is possible that some how in the process,
Your constant compliment of her has taken a recess,
It is possible that you no longer look her in the eye to say "I Love You, Honey,"
It is likely you have forgotten how to say to her, "You're the sweetest, Baby,"

And now she craves your attention,
Now she desires your compassion,
She wants to feel your passion,
And see your dedication,

Think about it,
When was the last time you gave her a long kiss?
When was the last time you hug her so tightly, that she felt bliss?
When was the last time you went out of your way to gave her a treat?
When was the last time you prepared break fast, and let her have a retreat?
She deserves your True Love,
If she's really your true love, sent you from above,
If you really care about that special lady in your life,
The one you call your wife,
Please take the time to Show Her True Love,
In the midst of your busy schedule, stop, take her out,
Make her feel loved, give her a sudden love-bout,
Compliment her hair, her eyes, her clothes and her body,
Understand that sometimes all she needs is to be held very closely,
So she could feel the comfort of your arms and the warmth of your body,
Show her true love and I assure your your relationship,
Would be on a smooth sail like a cruise ship,
The quarrels will cease,
Your marriage will experience a fresh breeze,
Of love, joy, and togetherness,
And you will forever part with the sadness and bitterness.
JUST SHOW HER TRUE LOVE. IT WORKS.

RIGHT WITHIN YOU

As I write tonight I am reminded of my past,
As these words are formed in my mind, a new glow is been cast,
It is a glow of the realization of a new truth,
It is the light of the revelation of a deep truth,
So after much cogitation,
And in-depth meditation,
I have come to realize that the life from which you are coming,
Is not as important as the realm to which you are going,
So quit blaming your failures on your background,
Stop all the unnecessary excuses and get you back off the ground,

For Right Within You,
Lies the strength with which you need to go through,
Life's challenges and set backs,
So no matter what you have been through, don't look back,
Keep pressing on, for Right Within You lies the golden seed,
Your world awaits, so please do not recede,
And even if you have tried everything,
Still look within you; for Right Within You a message rings,
It's a message from the Rock of Ages,
He is about to take you to higher levels and better stages,
So listen to the music Right Within You,
Arise! Get your sorrows of your mind, push through,
For Right Within You lies the gifts and dreams our world awaits,
And Right Within You lies a still small voice, it still waits,
It still calls, and here is what it says: "When everything else has failed,
You can look up to God for He would never fail."
Peace.

THE ONE FOR ME

You know the world is filled with a variety of women,
All beautiful in their own right,
So often times we find ourselves struggling to make a choice, I mean we men,
In the midst of the superficial beauty which every woman tries to acquire, we miss the light,
And get caught up in outward beauty which may look pretty on the outside but ugly on the inside,
Therefore one must be careful to make the right choice,

Yes, our world is filled with a variety of women,
All beautiful in their own right,
And I am sometimes attracted to that which appeals to the eye- so I miss the light,
So in the midst of the world's beauties,
I look within my entity,
In search of my true identity, if compatible with her personality,
Then I look up to my life's source,
To help me make the right choice,
For I know there can only be one for me,
The one with whom I am meant to be,

I am not attracted to just any pretty face,
I am searching for the one for me,
The one with whom I am meant to be,
For her life would bless me with grace,
I would love her,
I would cherish her,
The one for me,
The one with whom I meant to be,
Our hearts would beat as one,
Together we shall live, as one,
The one for me,
The one with whom I meant to be,
I would show her true love,
For she would be like an angel sent me from above,
The one for me ,
The one with whom I meant to be,
She would exude outer beauty,
She would embody inner beauty,
She doesn't really have to be perfect,
She just needs to be the one for me,
Yes, the right one for me,
The one and only one with whom I am meant to be.
So I'll keep searching till I find her-TheOne for Me.

A TRIBUTE TO THE ROYAL COUPLE

As I sat on my couch watching the royal array and glamor,
The people, the procession, the prince and his princess,
She looked so beautiful, adorned in white, I thought she has been blessed with favor,
Her father leads her on, she walks with grace and decorum, already used to the royal business,
As they stepped into the Westminster Abbey, its magnificance reflected royalty and splendor,
Then the prince sees his bride, he smiles, she smiles-they are about to be joined in oneness,

Then it occurred to me-I need to pray for the royal couple,
Write a tribute to them and wish them well,
So my tribute is a prayer, and my prayer a tribute for the new royal couple,
I pray that God will unite them in a well,
I mean a well of love, togetherness, and peace without struggle,
Just as the world gathered for your wedding, Prince William and Princess Kate,
They shall gather for your anniversary, not your divorce, for togetherness is your fate,
May your hearts never be torn apart,
And may your love for each other run truly and deeply-from the heart,
Your union would be blessed with kids as you desire,
And your love for each other shall burn continuously-like an unquenchable fire.
Happy Married Life-William and Kate.

ME, MYSELF AND I

As I journey through this life,
Constantly seeking the meaning of life,
Constantly pondering the relationship between humans and a loving God,
Whether there is  more to life than the vanities of this world,
I am sometimes torn in between the desire for wealth, fortune and fame,
And a desire to live for my maker and rely on His unfailing name,

So I sometimes feel that I can make it all by myself,
I occasionally think I am the captain of this ship, all by myself,
But in the midst of my "know-how", and intelligence,
In the midst of my skill, talent, gifts and substance,
And inspite of the seemingly reliable foundations on which I sometimes build my substance,
I have come to realize that all alone, with Me, Myself and I,
My best projects are like building castles in the sky,
My best works are nothing in their best,
So my self-confidence needs to be re-addressed,

'Cos all alone, with Me, Myself and I,
I am very infinitismal and insignificant,
With Me, Myself and I,
I am a like vessel left adrift on the open sea, so empty and vacant,
With Me, Myself and I,
I cannot make it,
So on this journey of life, when the flood lights of trouble are lit,
When my life's vehicle are skidding of the road of faith,
I take my hands off and let JESUS take the wheels of my life and faith,
Because with Me, Myself and I,
I am worthless,
But with Him in whom I live, move and have my being,
I am worth so much more, not less,
So I guess all I am saying is:
I have learnt to take the background and let JESUS take the lead.
Peace.

PRETTY GIRLS II

After much meditation,
And careful consideration,
I came to realize that no one has the right to define beauty,
Neither has anyone been vested with the power to describe pretty,
So stop feeling down-cast because you don't have a figure-eight shape,
Stop trying to go through some sort of surgery to obtain a well-rounded shape,
Even if you think you are beautiful by the society's standards,
And by the world's unreliable standards,

Here is one thing you must know,
Beauty is not superficiality or artificiality, it is an inner glow,
"Pretty" is a relative term, you are only as pretty as you think you are,
It is your self-esteem and the way you carry yourself, that will take you far,

You don't need a man to make you glow,
You don't need anyone to let you know,
That you are beautiful just the way you are,
So stop trying to impress people by leaving you body parts bare,
Above the foundation, the make-up and the skin-care products,
True beauty and real "pretty" is that of a character, of a genuine personality-an inner product,
It is beauty that is perceptible,
And "pretty" that remains visible,
Even in the absence of superficial adornment,
And artificial embodiment,

You are as beautiful as you think you are,
So search for your inner beauty, bring it out, and the world will soon come to appreciate it.
Peace

PRETTY GIRLS

Everywhere I go I see them,
Everywhere I turn I see them,
On the streets, on the park, and on the side-walk,
Up and down, and sinuously some of them walk,
Some of them tall, some of them short, others dark and some others fair,
Some of them decent, some indecent, walking around, body parts bare,

But how pretty is pretty,
And what really is beauty,
Is it a figure-eight shape,
A smooth face, straight and spotless legs, or a well-rounded shape,
Is it really in the eyes of the beholder,
Or is it a mere opinion of the "holder",

As I ponder over these questions,
And the various situations,
The fact that some people now live in a low self-esteem,
And their selves they so lowly esteem,
Because of the opinions of others,
And the society's definition of beauty, they are constantly bothered,
 I ask again,
May be this will help deal with the pain,
You feel inside because of others perception of beauty,
And many's misconception of pretty;
What makes a pretty girl pretty?
