From the shackles of an oppressive colony have we emerged,
From the bonds of "taxation without representation" have we come,
A nation driven by unity in diversity, and equality for all,
A nation free from dependence, standing tall,
So thus far have we come, in spite of the struggles,
Thus far have we come in spite of the battles,
And after more than two centuries later,
The Star-Spangled banner still waves,
Over the land of the free and the home of the brave,
And through the progression of time,
And the passage of seasons, we continue to strive on to our prime,
As we remain, America: Still Standing.
The past years have been very challenging,
We've had to deal with issues, so challenging,
We've been tossed to and fro by turbulent tides,
Yet in the midst of it all, we still maintain our prides,
Attacked severally by our enemies,
Lambasted occasionally by those who desire our death,
Hated by those who wish to stifle our breathe,
But through it all, we remain, America: Still Standing,
So as we celebrate our 235th birthday,
On this very historical day,
Let us not forget the almighty,
The one who's been our help in ages past,
Let us remember that we still are "one nation under God",
Therefore let us acknowledge Him in all we do,
Let us return to the foundation of His word,
For if we have come this far by God,
I think we will even go farther by God,
As we make laws and approve legislation,
Let us stop giving room to abomination,
For regardless of what happens, if we hold on to God,
We will always remain, America: Still Standing,
Let us stop the prejudice and the discrimination,
Let us stop hatred and an acrimonious disposition,
Let us stay together and love one another,
Be a helping hand to your next door neighbor,
For though we have varying religious views and belief systems,
Love, respect, equality, unity in diversity, are very important items,
Which we must apply and uphold,
I may not accept your way to God,
But that doesn't mean I should hate you,
So I guess all I'm saying is, Love all, Fear God, even as a nation,
As we continue to remain America: Still Standing.
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

HATS OFF: MEMORIAL DAY POEM
There I was on the train heading for my destination,
So many thoughts running through my mind, my meditation,
At exactly 6 pm, I got to my stop-Fort Washington,
A driving distance from DC, Washington,
As I looked around,
Looked up and then to the ground,
I was reminded that years ago, in New York, here in United States,
Some brave men fought to make this great country the United States,
It was the battle of Fort Washington,
The year was November 16, 1776, our Commander was General George Washington,
About 2,900 troops of ours fought against 8,000 British and German troops,
As I refelcted on these, I was moved and challenged by the bravery of our troops,
So on this special day as I stare on the American flag,
I am reminded of the Star Spangled Banner, our flag,
I am reminded of the battle of Fort McHenry, oh that battle,
I am reminded of the struggle that gave birth to those famous words, oh the struggle,
"Oh say, can you see, by the dawns early light..."
It was a battle to remember, it was for the combatants a painful plight,
As they fought at the Fort to defend the Fort- the Defense of the Fort,
So on this special day, I say Hats Off,
To all those who gave their blood and sweat that we may be free,
I say Hats Off,
To the likes of General Washington, who gave it all that we might be,
One nation under God, the land of the free and the home of the brave,
Hats Off to those amateur soldiers who risked it all, they bled and gave,
Their lives for the freedom of our great nation,
Each time I reminisce on the bravery of those soldiers, I'm filled with inspiration,
Hats off to the likes of Genral Lafayette,
Who inspite of injury organized a successful retreat,
Hats off to the great Revolutionaries,
Who brought about the Great Revolution,
That led to the Great Declaration,
Of our independence and successful secession,
Hats off to all those who fought in the struggle,
That made our victory and freedom possible,
Hats of to all; black, white, native American, slaves, bond, free,
Who gave it all up that generations yet unborn may be free,
For time immemorial their bravery will remain alive in the chronicles of time,
Within the annals of events their stories wil remain through time,
And through the pages of legacy and the books of legacy they shall remain unforgotten,
So in allegiance, honor and respect, I say, Hats Off.

MAY WE REMEMBER! IV
May we never forget the likes of George Washington,
Who pioneered a revolution known to the world today as America,
May we never forget the likes of Abraham Lincoln,
Who against all odds fought for the freedom of slaves,
May we never forget the likes of Martin Luther king and Malcolm X,
Who through all adversity and pain, gave up their lives,
For the fight of equality and the furtherance of black solidarity,
May their stories and those of them I failed to mention,
Be inculcated into the tablets of our minds,
And engraved into the fibers of our beings,
May their history be imprinted into our souls;
For whatever we are, or ever will be,
Was borne-out of the lives of our heroes and heroines past,
So through it all, May We Remember!

MAY WE REMEMBER! III
Yes we are proud to be called Americans,
Living in a country called America;
A country where we are taught to aim higher and become better,
A country where our children are taught they can be whatever is their passion,
With hardwork, and determination,
A country where anyone can be successful;
You call it privileges and opportunities,
But we call it the American Dream,
But as we celebrate our independence,
As we continually extend our influence,
Let us not loose sight of our imperfection,
May we never forget our vision;
For we are still a work in progress,
A nation with some socio-cultural and political stress,
We are a project of excellence,
In search of the greatest intelligence,
Driving towards a place of all round stability,
And a pedestal of greater ability...

MAY WE REMEMBER! II
Today, we are known as the land of the free, and home of the brave,
We are a country of ourselves, ruled by ourselves and for ourselves,
We stand tall and proud through the annals of history,
And will forever be the world's envy,
As we continually define our own,
We walk down the aisles of the world,
In prestigious strides of intelligence and strength,
Setting the pace as we go,
And defining the blueprint and landmarks as we grow,
We flip through the pages of events,
Making history in every incident,
Beating our chest as the world's insight,
To a better and brighter plight,
But may we never forget,
The lives and courage of those untrained traders and farmers,
Who took the battle to the enemies's face,
Risking their lives with courageous inexperience as they set the pace,
For a free, brave and proud nation,
May we never forget,
The blood that gushed out of that black farmers chest as the enemies bullet went through him,
For that blood help secure our freedom...

MAY WE REMEMBER!
Through the dungeons of slavery,
Out of the bonds of captivity,
And from the clasps of brutality;
Against all odds,
Have we emerged,
A nation founded upon Freedom and Liberty,
Standing upon the pillars of bravery and strength,
But may we never forget the lives of those who fought,
And gave their lives to get us where we are,
May the memories of those who gave us freedom air,
Remain alive on the minds of generations unborn,
May the histories and stories of our nation's heroes and heroines past,
Be sounded continually through the chronicles of time with a blast,
And may we live to always remember!
Out of the bonds of captivity,
And from the clasps of brutality;
Against all odds,
Have we emerged,

Standing upon the pillars of bravery and strength,

BLACK PRIDE; ETERNALLY BLACK!
From the clasps of slavery,
From the hands of drudgery,
Have we emerged,
Through the dark tunnels of bloody discrimination have we survived,
Out of the sorrowful clouds of inhumanity have we evolved,
A people stronger with pain,
A race glorified in spite of shame now living in much gain,
Our dreams alive on our minds,
Our vision bright in our eyes we can't put behind,
We refused to be drained,
We refused to be waned,
'Cos when the annals of history are opened,
And the chronicles of events recounted,
We shall be celebrated not tolerated,
'Cos we ride in a pride we call our own; The Black Pride,
And we live in a skin perpetually ours;
So we remain Eternally Black!
