From the clasps of slavery,
From the hands of drudgery,
Have we emerged,
Through the dark tunnels of bloody discrimination have we survived,
Out of the sorrowful clouds of inhumanity have we evolved,
A people stronger with pain,
A race glorified in spite of shame now living in much gain,
Our dreams alive on our minds,
Our vision bright in our eyes we can't put behind,
We refused to be drained,
We refused to be waned,
'Cos when the annals of history are opened,
And the chronicles of events recounted,
We shall be celebrated not tolerated,
'Cos we ride in a pride we call our own; The Black Pride,
And we live in a skin perpetually ours;
So we remain Eternally Black!
