THE WORLD COULD USE A LITTLE MORE LOVE

From the hearts and souls of the hungry and poverty-stricken,
From the spirits and bellies of the heart-broken,
Lies a call waiting anxiously to be heard,
A call whose response waits for someone to spearhead,
And yet we all lie around in affluence and abundance,
We walk bye daily, laughing and eating, while those war-torn regions continue to suffer, and those precious souls perish before our wealthy presence,
We say we don't have enough to give,
But yet we waste so much daily, and still have more on which we live,
In all my life, I have come to understand that it takes only a penny or a dime to make a difference,
Ever heard the phrase, "nothing is too small?" Small things sure make a big difference,
Charity sure begins at home,
We can start from the slums of New York city,
Move to the cold streets of Washington DC,
Continue along the hoods of Los Angeles,
Spread to the rugged mountains of Mississippi,
And just spread the love until it becomes nationwide,
Then we can progress beyond the borders of our vicinity,

Religion's legion,
We all claim purity, righteousness and distinction,
And yet find it hard to show a little love,
It's no more a battle of love,
It's now a battle of rights,
A battle of who is right and wrong, and what is wrong and right,
And while we fight over our multiple and diverse stance,
Many lie around us feeling unloved, uncared for and unwelcomed,
Waiting, just waiting for a feel of that godly love,
While we walk around wallowing in selfishness and worldy gains,
They live through life each second battling pains,
And everyday I ask, with sorrows in my heart and tears in my eyes,
Where is the love?
Couldn't the world use a little more love?
